This is a “Tennis Lamp” Pendant Light Fixture, Model PH 8/6, designed by Poul Henningsen and produced by Louis Poulsen in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is an early example, dating to the early 1930s. The body of the piece is composed of burnished brass, and it has three patinated copper shades.
The piece was most recently purchased from WYETH in 2004 for $28,000, and the original receipt from this transaction will be included in this sale.
This fixture measures 33 inches in circumference and is 23.6 inches high. The piece is being offered in its current condition as we believe its hard-earned patina only exemplifies its importance. Upon request, we can certainly have it polished. The largest rim is slightly bent and there is a small scratch on top of one of the shades.
